Something has been brewing at Google’s headquarters in California.
Due to the explosion of information on the Internet, Google’s programmers have revised their index procedures. “Caffeine” is the name of the new search indexing system.
When you do a search on Google you are not actually searching the web. You are searching on Google’s index of the web.
Google sends “robots” out into the web on a search mission. Their job is to report back to Google what they find about websites so that Google can understand what a site is all about, store that information, and then deliver that information to you, the searcher.
However, Google has found that there is a lag between fresh content on the web and their search results to you. This new indexing system is supposed to speed up the process of delivering the newest and freshest content available.
What does this mean to you the website owner and being found in search results?
Time will only tell.
My guess is that as a website owner, it will be even more important to constantly add fresh content to your site on a regular basis or risk being knocked down in the rankings.
Even if Google had not made these changes, you should be adding fresh content to your site on a regular basis. Content is king for on-site SEO.
