... Tips, Tricks, and Tactics For This Dog Eat Dog Net!

Internet Marketing Link Building

Off-page optimization is all about links...and nothing but links!

As we already discussed, the domain name chosen for your site is very important to your ranking with Google and other search engines, but Google doesn't pay much attention to standard on-page SEO tactics like using meta-tags these days.

When it comes to Google, the only thing that really matters in terms of SEO is the links that your site accumulates over time.

A link is simply an active hyperlink leading to your site from another site. We will get into how these links are accumulated in a moment, but for now just understand that Google considers every link leading back to your site a positive vote in favor of the material presented on your site.

Therefore, the more incoming links you have, the more likely Google is to consider your site a source of valuable information. More links will lead to the assumption that visitors will have a high-quality experience when they go to your site, so Google will rank your site higher.

Here's the catch: not all links have the same value.

For example, a link placed on your site to someone else's delivers very little value for you. If you are the one linking it doesn't benefit you as much as it would if they linked to you.

A reciprocal link where you each link to one another's site has more value since you are essentially voting for one another. Site Build It uses a value link exchange program that is a free tool that comes with their web hosting. Click here to learn more.

That said, the most valuable links are those that come from external websites to yours, but which you do not reciprocate. These are known as one-way incoming links, since they are linking to you with no strings attached. As far as Google is concerned, these are the most valuable signs that your site presents high quality material.

If you are thinking that the goal is to have only one-way incoming links, slow down. As with most things related to Google, it is not so straightforward. Google employs some of the smartest engineers and analysts in the industry and they know every possible way to "tweak" the system in order to acquire incoming links through shady practices.

For instance, many web sites will give you one-way incoming links for a fee. However, Google considers this cheating the system (or "gaming" as online marketers like to say), and they are not having it! If they suspect your links were purchased, you will likely find your site completely removed from their search results pages.

There are many legitimate ways to generate one-way incoming links for your site, but it is extremely important that it appears to be done in an organic or natural fashion. For instance, if you have no incoming links today and 1,000 incoming links tomorrow, this would be a red flag that it didn't happen honestly.

Here are some places that you can begin your link building.

1. First, get and install DNF add on for Firefox
(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5687)

This add on will highlight the Do Not Follow links in red. This means the search engine spiders will not follow this link back to your site. This is NOT good for link building. Stay away from sites with DNF.

2. Find forums by using Big Boards (http://www.big-boards.com

Google likes relevancy, so if your niche is dog food, better to post on forums /sites about dogs than about credit cards.

Google loves forums!

Use your SEO for Firefox plugin to avoid forums with Do Not Follow enabled (links show up red if DNF is enabled)

Post helpful information ... add value!

Return to the forum to ensure your posts are approved

 3. Blogs

More blogs than forums have DNF enables, so we have to be even more aware here of DNF!

Search for “Do Follow” lists like this one.(http://dofollowwebsites.ning.com/)

Google “do follow blog list” for more lists.

Again use your SEO for Firefox plugin to avoid blogs with Do Not Follow enabled (links show up red if DNF is enabled)

To get your keywords ranked, enter them as your “Name”  as with forums, return to the blog over the next few days to ensure approval.

4. Comment Kahuna [optional tool] (http://www.commentkahuna.com

Use this free tool to find high page rank blogs without DNF enabled and post to these blogs. Again, add value ... be helpful - Your're asking for a "lifetime membership" to post.

5. Social Bookmarking (huge!)

Go to Traffikd for a list of social bookmarking sites (http://traffikd.com/social-media-websites)

You want your site on each of these bookmarking services!

Why? because of the trickle-down effect – people who like you will bookmark you; the more people that bookmark you the more Google takes notice; the more Google takes notice the higher Google ranks you for searches on your niche!

6.  OnlyWire (http://www.onlywire.com)

This will speed up the social bookmarking process in the Step above!
All the benefits; less time to complete!
