Internet Marketing Optimization
For Search
Engines
We learned on our web site design page that Content is King for Internet marketing optimization for search engines.
You can write the content yourself, pay someone to write it, or actually have your visitors contribute.
Instead of you spending hours and hours writing, your visitors actually add content themselves. This is called Content 2.0.
Content 2.0 (C2) is "Web 2.0 for small business sites." It's like a combination of Wikipedia, Facebook and Flickr, except users cannot continuously overwrite each other's content, they don't create "Profiles" and gossip, and they do much more than just upload photos.
Visitors create valuable content for you,
quality-controlled by you!
Writing content is so important, that it requires more attention than what I am
covering here. So, when you are ready, I have a 48 page
free e-book that you can download. It's a blueprint for writing that will change
the way you do business on the Internet.

Internet Marketing Optimization - Your Domain Name
Your chosen domain name is probably the most important aspect of on-page optimization.
It must meet certain criteria, including:
- It must accurately represent
your business activities.
- It must be easy for your prospects and customers to remember.
- It must contain at least one of your main keyword phrases.
You will get the best results if the domain name that takes the spotlight on
your site meets all three of these criteria.
For example, if your online business promotes blue gadgets, then an ideal domain
name would be bluegadgets.com.
So, what happens if you already have a domain name registered that is
appropriate to your business, but not particularly relevant to your product. In
this case, just make sure that the html file name is relevant to the product.
For instance, if you already own BestOnlineGadgets.com and you have just
launched a completely new range of purple gadgets, then you would create a page
on your website for those gadgets that becomes something like
BestOnlineGadgets.com/PurpleGadgets.html.
Of course, it would be better to have a domain focused completely on those
purple gadgets, but having its own page appropriately labeled should be enough
to get your page correctly analyzed by the small software robots (spiders) that
the search engines send out to analyze new web sites.
Internet Marketing Optimization - Scripting Language Code
Apart from having a domain name that accurately reflects the content of your
site, accurate meta-tags are a central feature of on-page SEO as well. Meta-tags
are elements of the underlying page code and search engines look for them
specifically when they visit your site.
It used to be that meta-tags were the absolute most important aspect of SEO, but
as experts become proficient at manipulating them to get better results, search
engines have devalued them quite significantly.
Today, it is believed by many people that Google has disregarded meta-tags
entirely. This is important, considering Google is the leading search engine and
commands around 70% of the global search market!
Yet, the remaining 30% of the search engines are believed to still value
meta-tags, so it is to your advantage to learn to use them correctly.
To some extent, how you use these tags varies depending on the type of site you
are operating.
If are using HTML code, then your tags should look similar to this:
<title>Main Keyword 1 | Main Keyword 2</title>
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Create a brief description which of course
includes your main keyword phrases.">
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="Make a very short, concise list which includes up
to 3 keyword phrases, each separated by a comma">
This is just a sample of the kind of information that you could include in the
meta-tags.
Fortunately, for those who are not HTML programmers, like myself, finding and
using the right
website hosting company takes the guess work out of building properly
coded web pages. I love Site Build It.
